Welcome!

My name is Hayley MacLean, and I believe in the power of food.  It is through this belief that I have found my purpose in Dietetics.  As a graduate of the MSN/DPD program at Bastyr University, I have not only experienced nutrition's ability to heal the body, but to enlighten the mind and bring people together.  Completing my internship through Sodexo Dietetic Internships, I have been able to bring this belief to action through my work in a variety of health- and nutrition-advocacy positions.

I hope to use my education to improve community health by making nutritional knowledge accessible to those from all walks of life, through work as both an educator and a clinician.  My passions lie in working with people, especially those with barriers to health, both culturally and socially.  With a background in Public Relations, I believe that I have the opportunity to advocate for change in food, nutrition, and health policy in hopes of providing a better, more healthful, future.

As a Registered Dietitian, I would like to impact both individuals and communities, working in both a clinical setting and also as part of the larger picture of changing the landscape of nutrition to come.  Through my experience working in a school setting, I have seen how proper nourishment in childhood helps nurture a future as a healthy adult.  I understand that strong foundations of health begin within the family, and hope to be a vector to inspire behavior change that will last through generations.  I want to work with other practitioners and professionals to facilitate this change, and to continue educating the population about the benefits of healthy eating.

This portfolio is a reflection of my ambition, a collection of experiences that has brought me to this moment in my life.  Thank you for joining me on this journey.

All parts are interconnected."
